Is this for real? There is something terribly demented in scrutinizing a child's dolls. Don't they have anything to do with their lives?

Mormons, the origin of man. (video)
by free2beme inwhen i was searching for religion, post witness life, i spent a few months studying mormon faith.
while i found it interesting, i also found it comical in their believes.
yet until i found this cartoon on youtube, it was hard to explain how mormons see the origin of man without cracking up.

So, SusanHere, what exactly are the distortions and errors in this video? I am interested as I have talked to Mormons and did find some of what they told me they believe. Could you point out the mistakes?

Sounds familiar, doesn't it? Secret tribunals, not informing authorities, allowing men in positions of authority to have access to more innocent victims, all of these could have come from an article about jws.
Maybe blowing the lid off of the Catholic Church will do the same for the Watchtower Society. It is interesting that the church the WBTS says they despise so closely resembles the structure of the WBTS itself. Authoritarian structure lends itself to such abuses.

Flip-flops can be beautiful -- our allies?
by Fatfreek inflip-flops can be beautiful -- our allies -- as they can be used to reveal evidence of the lack of spirit-direction which the society so readily claims.
the following link is to a 16 page essay that does just that but in a manner that i hope you'll find is objective and less vitriolic than is sometimes found.
the revealing wt quotations are all, with the exception of one (from the 1879 launch of zions watch tower), from the wt library (2005) on cd.

So, was this the first mercy killing? Which seems more likely? Did God put him to sleep or allow him to go to a different world?

I am afraid I joined up with a little pushing from my husband. I don't think I would ever have gotten involved completely on my own. It was a scary time in my life and I let them convince me that I could run away from my responsibility and into paradise. There are a lot of things you do to convince yourself not to think too much about all the flaws in their thinking.
I do believe it would be scarier to leave if you were raised in the religion. I knew there was life outside the walls of the tower when I left. It was and is still hard to shake the program.
I learned if it seems too good to be true, it certainly is and there is no us and them.

Glad they were forced to testify. If they can't remember clearly, what about the notes they take during judicial meetings?

Would YOU Remain A JW If You Thought The Watchtower Could Be Reformed?
by minimus inpersonally, i don't think the organization is reformable.
while i was an elder, i tried to be a more moderate voice and as i grew older any harsher attitudes disappaited from within me.
as they say, all the good (and smart) elders have left.

If I thought it could be reformed, I would be interested in helping. They would have to be willing to make a lot of things taught as wrong now up to your conscience. Things don't seem to be heading this direction currently.
I agree that everything is run by legal now.
